R. J. Preston was born in Barton county, Missouri, August 31, 1913, and departed this life at Osceola, Iowa, in the Osceola Sanitarium on the thirteenth day of December 1926, at the age of 13 years, 3 months and 13 days. He came with his parents to Madison county, Iowa, in 1919. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Preston.

He leaves to mourn his loss a father, mother, sister, a little brother, two grandparents and other relatives. He met with an accident at school on Tuesday and lived until Sunday morning at 1:30 when he was called home.

He was of a loving disposition, always a helping hand to lend to everyone. He never complained, always bore his aches and pains alone. He was so kind and good to his only grandmother watching over her so closely while she was bedfast. Always bade her goodbye when he left for school. He never gave up and was up and around until God called him home.

His grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Preston, passed to the great beyond some two years ago in the state of Colorado.

He often spoke kind words of his little school friends and his teacher. He was dearly loved by those who knew him. Always had a smile for everyone. All that medical science, loving care and tender watchfulness could do for him was done.

Short funeral services were conducted by Rev. Miss Nichol of Weldon at the Presbyterian church at Le Roy at one o’clock Wednesday afternoon. Interment was made in Garden Grove cemetery.
