Page 6, Column 5Ruth Amanda DeLong, youngest daughter of Ephraim and Hannah DeLong, was born in Madison County, Iowa, near Truro, March 22, 1859 and died at her home in Osceola, Iowa, June 1, 1926, aged 67 years, 2 months and 9 days.
She came to Clarke Co. with her parents when she was a child. Nearly the whole of her life has been spent in and near Osceola.
She was married April 16, 1878 to Fred S. Forney, of Clarke County. To this union were born two sons and two daughters. A son and a daughter preceded her in death having passed away in early childhood.
Among her living relatives are the husband, Fred S. Forney, a son, Merton Forney, of Osceola; a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Wilson, of Kearney, Nebraska; one grandson John R. Forney; a granddaughter, Dorotha Wilson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was the last one of a family of ten children.
The immediate cause of her death was heart trouble. She had been in ill health for a number of years. She always remained a patient sufferer, kind and thoughtful of others even in her own distress. She was the best of wives and mothers, giving continually of her own body and mind for her loved ones.
She became a member of the Baptist Church many years ago, giving her life to her Christ and His Service. Eleven years ago she united with the Christian Church of Osceola.
Mrs. Forney had made her plans for her burial, in preparation for her great adventure. A sense of our loss will make us glad that her sufferings are over, and we are assured she will receive her reward.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church Thursday at 2:30 p.m. and interment made at Maple Hill cemetery. Rev. Warner Muir conducted the services.
