Vivian Alice Patterson, daughter of James and Elizabeth Patterson, was born in Madison county, Iowa, December 12, 1879 and departed this life at a local hospital in Osceola, Iowa, on Monday morning, November 21, 1932, at the age of 52 years, 11 months and 9 days.

She was born and raised in Madison county, near Truro, Ia. On July 5, 1900 she was married to Merritt Patterson to which union was born four children, two of whom have passed away. They are: an infant and Clinton. The two children left are: Jace Patterson, Abbeville, Louisiana, and Winifred Patterson, who is still at home with her father M. Patterson.

Besides she leaves to mourn two sisters and one brother, viz: Mrs. Clara Reed, Osceola, Iowa; Mrs. Kate Dietrich, Indianola, and John Patterson, Leadyard, Iowa. Two sisters and one brother have passed away viz: Mrs. Anne Clark, Mrs. Matilda Delong, and George Patterson.

She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Her death was sudden and unexpected to all.

Funeral services were conducted from the Fremont church at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, by Rev. F. Clare McCallon and interment made in Fremont cemetery.
