Page 6, Columns 3 & 4Eliza Ellen Farr, daughter of Robert and Mary Farr, was born near Truro, Iowa, March 10, 1878, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Widaman in Des Moines, Iowa, April 12, 1945, at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 2 days.
She grew to young womanhood in the vicinity of her birth and was united in marriage to John Ellsworth Sawhill, November 25, 1894.
Seven children were born to this union. With her devoted companion who passed away three years ago, spent the greater part of their married life in Madison county, Iowa.
In the year of 1934 they moved to New Virginia, Iowa, to care for her invalid mother.
At an early age she was converted and united in membership with the Christian Church in Truro, Iowa.
She loved her home and longed for the time when she could be among her old neighbors. No sacrifice on her part was too great for her family and friends.
She leaves to mourn her departure, four daughters: Mrs. Clarence Widaman, and Mrs. Cleve Terry of Des Moines; Mrs. Jess Dane of Derby, Iowa, and Mrs. Paul Houston of Ames, Iowa.
The three oldest children, Mabel, Bertha and Iva, passed away in infancy.
She also leaves 16 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, one brother, Tom Farr of Stromsburg, Neb.
Her brother, Frank Farr, preceded his sister 8 days before to the great Beyond and a brother, Charley Farr, passed away when a young man.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in New Virginia, Iowa, Sunday, April 15, with the Rev. J. A. Worrell, delivering the sermon. Interment in the New Virginia cemetery.
