Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from Union church north of Murray for Franklin Pierce Iiams, 74, who passed away at the home of a brother, Arthur, Wednesday, June 11. The Rev. Charles C. Miller was in charge.

Franklin Pierce Iiams, the son of Michael and Calista Iiams, was born October 11, 1872, in Madison county, Iowa.

He departed this life at the home of his brother, Arthur Iiams, near Murray, Iowa, June 11, 1947, at the age of 74 years and 9 months, after a long illness, during which he was a very patient man to the end.

Frank, as he was called by all of those who knew him, spent the largest part of his life in and around Madison county, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

He was a neighborly man and always willing to lend a helping hand.

He leaves to mourn his passing two brothers, Robert of Winterset, Iowa, and Arthur of Murray, Iowa; also, three sisters, Maggie Kirk of Lorimor, Iowa, Mary King of Denver, Colorado, and Della Dick of Winterset, Iowa, and a large host of relatives and friends.

Music was furnished by the men’s quartet: Everett Ogden, Clarence Arnold, W. T. Woods and Clarence Wetzel, accompanied by Mrs. Milan Welker. Pallbearers were Gerald Simmerman, Nelson Simmerman, Leonard Camp, Clell Camp, Ross Simmerman and Bill Simmerman.

Burial was in Union cemetery.
