Page 7, Columns 4 & 5Services for Mrs. Valley Proctor were held at the Miller Funeral home Saturday, April 28, with Rev. David E. Mathews, pastor of the Community Bible church, officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery.
Carrie Ellen, daughter of Frances and Lee Leonard DeLong, was born March 17, 1875, in Clarke county, Iowa and died April 23, 1951, at Osceola, at the age of 76 years, one month and six days.
With the exception of a few years in Madison county, she lived her entire life in Clarke county.
About 1910 she joined the Frame Methodist church during a revival campaign with other members of her family.
On December 25, 1895, she was married to George Valley Proctor of Osceola by the Rev. J. W. Smith, who was then pastor of the Frame church.
To this union four sons were born in this order: Vernie, Gerald, Loren and Marvin.
Until the time of their retirement in 1936, Mr. and Mrs. Proctor engaged in farming as their life’s occupation.
Surviving are her husband; four sons, Vernie and Gerald of Osceola, Loren of Chariton, Iowa, and Marvin of Los Angeles, Cal.; eighteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jake Hart of Osceola; and many other relatives and friends.
