Funeral services for Phebe E. Steele were held Tuesday, January 15, 1980. Rev. George Neal of Osceola conducted the 1:30 p.m. service from the Webster-Kale Funeral Home with interment in Maple Hill Cemetery, Osceola. Mrs. Steele died at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Sunday, January 13.
Phebe E. Steele, 83, was born in Truro, Iowa September 24, 1896, the daughter of Elton and Mary Carver Atkinson. She attended the Clarke County Schools and February 24, 1915 was united in marriage to Emory L. Steele. Two children were born to this union. She was affiliated with the Grace Baptist Church at Chariton, Iowa.
She is survived by son, Wayne R. Steele and wife, Arlene of Corydon, Iowa, daughter, Louise Watson and husband, Gerald of Osceola, Iowa, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren, two brothers, Don Atkinson of Osceola, Iowa, Dale Atkinson of Davis City, Iowa and one sister, Marie Carson of Osceola, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Herbert, one sister, Elizabeth and two grandchildren.
