Loyd Ryner, 53, Dies Saturday; Rites Tuesday

Loyd Ryner, 53, of Laurel died at 9 a.m. Saturday at Evangelical Hospital where he had been a patient since last Saturday. He had been in his usual health until two weeks ago when he suffered a brain hemorrhage.

Born Aug. 18, 1902 in Warren County, the son of Clifford and Mabel Lull Ryner, his early life was spent in Madison county and later in southern Minnesota.

On April 21, 1927 he was married to Mary Dortha Putman and the couple lived in Valley Junction and later in Michigan. They came to Laurel in 1941. For five years he had been employed by the Maytag Company in Newton.

Surviving are the widow, a son and two daughters, Pfc. Clifford Ryner, stationed in Schwapch, Germany, who arrived home on leave Saturday, Nancy of Waterloo and Mrs. Harold Luse of Laurel. Also surviving are three grandsons, his mother, Mrs. Mabel Lawrenz; a brother, Cecil Ryner and two half brothers, Billy and Walter Lawrenz, all of West Des Moines, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, a daughter, Rose Mary in 1942 and two sisters, Bernice and Mildred.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Estel-Perrin Funeral Home with burial in the cemetery at Hartford at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
