Luella J. Blair, daughter of George J. and Mary A. Blair was born in Adair county, Kentucky April 4th, 1858, and came with her parents to Madison county, Iowa, in 1866 and to Warren county near Wick in 1875 and died while visiting her daughter, Mrs. John Hypes in Hartford, Iowa, January 7, 1914, aged 56 years, 9 months and 3 days.

December 21, 1876, she was united in marriage to George M. Headrick who died March 29th, 1908. To them were born two sons and eight daughters, of whom five daughters survive her.

When fifteen years old she was converted and joined the United Brethren church, and the faith in Christ that came with that conversation ripened into a hope that was as an anchor to her soul sure and steadfast that by its strengthening power enabled her to bear with Christian fortitude many trials and sorrows than usually falls to the life that now is. The writer has known her since before her marriage, remembers well the adverse winds and tempestuous seas that have troubled her voyage of life. Her first born, a son died within a few hours of his birth, two daughters, five and eleven years old died of diphtheria, and because of the quarantine, no funerals were allowed, a little boy, the pet and pride of the family met death by the kick of a horse, her husband for years before his death nearly blind and slowly dying with tuberculosis surely was enough to try the cables of this anchor, but through it all it remained sure and steadfast, she never doubted the genuineness of the faith born at conversion and which constantly and always was her hope and stay.

The funeral services conducted by S. W. Lee brought a great congregation to the M.E. church at Wick with interment in the Wallace cemetery.
