Kathleen Seales, Lorimor, Iowa

Kathleen Seales, 96 of Lorimor, died Thursday, December 14, 2017 at West Bridge Care and Rehab in Winterset. Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Powers Funeral Home in Afton. Dwayne Henrichs will officiate. Private Family burial will be at Lorimor cemetery in Lorimor. Open visitation will be from Sunday December 17, 2017 from 1-4 p.m. with family receiving friends 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Powers Funeral Home in Afton. Memorials are to local organizations that were important to Kathleen.

Mary Kathleen (Kirk) Seales, daughter to Joseph Kirk and Susie (Camp) Kirk, was born on September 30, 1921 in rural Madison County, Ia. She attended Brush College country school north of Lorimor.

On February 16, 1946, Kathleen was united in marriage to William Allen 'Wink' Seales in Wathena, Kan. They lived their entire married life in Lorimor. Kathleen worked for over 20 years as a school cook with the East Union Schools in Lorimor, but primarily was a homemaker.

Kathleen was a 77 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star holding many if not all of the offices at least once. She also was a member with the Merry Fu social Book Club since 1946, as well as, the American Legion Auxiliary #96 in Lorimor.

Kathleen is survived by her sister Norma Jane Woodley, sister-in-law LaVeda Gardner, her children Kenny and Mary Seales of Thayer, Ia. and Neil and Jennifer Seales of Baxter, Ia.; grandchildren Korey and Jennifer Seales, Kami and Todd Raney, Katie and Kellie Seales. She was Great Grandma K. to Kyle, Abby, Kole, Kael, Mallory, Bryson, and Reece. She loved to have the greats visit her and always had treats for them. She called them the jewels in her crown, if she ever got a crown. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews who were very special to her and whom she loved very much. Her very special long-time friend, Linda Gilland, also survives her and has been like a daughter to her for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Nicki Kay in 1953, two brothers, Richard and Gerdon Kirk, two brothers-in-law Ronald Woodley and David Hines and three sisters-in-law, Carolyn, Ruby and Mary Kirk.
