Page 3, Columns 6 & 7Irene B. Huglin, the daughter of Jacob and Katherine Fillman, was born February 25, 1890 in Donahue, Iowa. She passed away February 13, 1980 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
The Fillman family moved from Illinois to the Dexter area in 1900 and Irene attended school in Dexter for several years.
On April 2, 1930 Irene was united in marriage to George J. Huglin in Atlantic, Iowa. They spent their married life together farming in the Dexter community.
Due to failing health Irene spent the last few years in the Stuart Care Center and later Madison Manor North in Winterset. During these years her daughter, Margaret, faithfully cared for her.
Irene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Huglin of Dexter, Mrs. Mary Norris of Elcajon, California, and Mrs. Grace Verburg of Arcadia, California; three granddaughters, one grandson, two great grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Fillman of Ogden, Iowa, and Louise Fillman of Midland, Texas; and one brother, Fred Fillman of Paton, Iowa.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were conducted February 16, 1980 at the Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman M. Luecht officiating. Mrs. Nadine Shepherd provided organ music and accompanied the congregational singing. The church floral committee was in charge of flowers. Casket bearers were Allen Atherton, Craig Fillman, Jack Frederickson, Marion Patience, Jeffrey Sutton and John Sutton. Interment was in Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, Iowa.
