Carmon Orville Lyddon was the son of William Orville Lyddon and Jessie Mabel (Henry) Lyddon. He was born Jan. 23, 1918, on a farm in Madison County, between Dexter and Earlham. He had an older brother, Raymond Wayne; an older sister, Dorothy Olive Lyddon Vlieger, and a younger sister, Jessie Eileen Lyddon Tabor.

He lived in this area through his schooling years, where he attended grade school. In 1932, his parents, Eileen, and he moved to the Menlo area of a farm. He helped his father with chores and farming as he had done from a child of nine years old. He also hired out to help the neighbors when he could, and this is how he made money to buy his first truck that year.

On Jan. 23, 1940, he was united in marriage to Bertha Lois Hull. Five children were born to this union, Cliel Cirilla, Mabel Elsie Lyddon Rice, Carmon Noel (Ike), Charles Edward (Eddie), and Francis Leroy (Pete).

On December 4, 1954, he was married to Leona Christina Hull. Two daughters were born to this union, Viola Jeannette and Victoria Ann Lyddon (Lindberg). The seven children shared a family unit growing up as one family together.

In March 1961, Carmon and Leona bought a farm between Menlo and Stuart, which was known as the homeplace to the children, their mates, and grandchildren. It was here that Carmon and his sons farmed, had a corn shelling custom combining and trucking business. Carmon and Leona enjoyed and valued their fellowship with the living God and those who believe in the living ministry, which Jesus bought, taught, and lived while here on earth, until he was taken up into heaven, waiting Jesus’ return again. Carmon and Leona both enjoyed working in the earth, nature, and living in the rural area of Iowa.

Carmon was a loving father and a loving and faithful husband and companion with Leona all their married life together of 52 years. He was always dependable, honest in his business, and was a busy man from youth until a stroke hit him in early retirement years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two older brothers, Francis Leroy and Raymond Wayne, one sister, Dorothy Olive Lyddon Vlieger, and a daughter, Viola Jeannette.

Survivors include his wife, Leona, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ruppert Funeral Home of Stuart was in charge of arrangements.
