Margaret E. Boyd was born to Leander Acheson and Catherine (Doud) Acheson on February 1, 1881 near Patterson, Iowa in Madison County.

Her family lived near Menlo where she attended high school and received a teaching certificate. She taught several years in Adair and Guthrie County rural schools.

On February 6, 1907 Frank J. Boyd and Margaret Ellen Acheson were married at All Saints Church by Rev. McNamara. Their four children were: Alice (deceased), John F. (deceased), Mary F. of Elkhart and Daniel L. of Des Moines.

Her entire life has been devoted to helping others, and she always had an optimistic outlook. “Maggie” and “Cy” Boyd had an open home and heart to all who came their way.

After her husband’s death in 1951 she moved from Casey to Stuart and then to Elkhart in 1959. She had been in very good physical health until June 4 when a fall and light stroke made her bedfast. She passed away at the home of her daughter on October 28, 1968.

Besides her son and daughter, a sister Alice E. Myers of Dell Rapids, So. Dak., twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive.

Services were held Thursday morning, October 31 from All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart with Father Reece of Stuart and Father Bergman of Elkhart conducting the services. Pall bearers were Martin Schrader, Knobbs Couch, Basil Cline, Wilford Steele, Leo Farrell and Royal McNelly. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Stuart.
