Alvin D. Silverthorn was born in Muscatine, Iowa, January 28, 1867, being at the time of his death, Wednesday, December 12th, 1923, at his home in Council Bluffs, 57 years of age.

He with his parents, moved to Madison County, Iowa, in 1870, moving to Adair county in 1876. For forty-two years he lived in Adair county, many years of that time being in Greenfield. About thirty-five years ago, he was married to Miss Maria Mason of Greenfield. To this union were born two sons, Oscar of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Calvin of Burlington, Iowa.

Mr. Silverthorn had been in poor health for nearly a year and died very suddenly of heart trouble at his home Wednesday evening, just after returning from a forty minute drive.

He leaves, besides his wife and two sons, three grandchildren, his aged father, O. A. Silverthorn, his mother having died six months ago, two sisters, Mrs. W. S. Jones of Des Moines, Mrs. G. E. Nichols of Fontanelle, two nieces, Opal and Audrey Jones of Des Moines and one nephew, Roc Nichols of Fontanelle, besides many other relatives and friends.

The body was brought here Saturday afternoon and the funeral service was held from the M. E. church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. H. Meredith.
