Harry Mason, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mason, deceased, died Monday evening, May 5th, at his home in Des Moines. The body was brought to Greenfield Wednesday and taken to the home of his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mason. A funeral service conducted by Rev. J. E. Matheney, was held Thursday from the M. E. church and attended by a large concourse of old friends. Mr. Mason was born in Linn county, Iowa, February 14, 1864, being at the time of his death 55 years, 2 months and 21 days of age. When about two years of age, he with his parents moved to Madison county for a short time moving from there to Adair county where Mr. Mason spent nearly his entire life, moving to Des Moines about a year ago.

He was married to Miss Anna Barnard about thirty years ago and to this union were born four children, two of whom died in infancy, the other two, Mrs. Vey Ray of Orient and Miss Very, and his wife all being with him in his last illness which was only four or five days and all were present at his funeral. He also left three sisters, Mrs. Al Silverthorn of Austin, Texas; Mrs. Fred Warren and Mrs. Dr. Means of Chanute, Kansas and one brother John of Chicago. Mrs. Silverthorn, who happened to be visiting here, was the only one of his father’s family present at the funeral. Mr. Mason was a good husband and father, a good citizen and the many friends of the family extend their sympathy at this time.
