Harold Gail Ogburn, son of William and Lena Sawhill Ogburn, was born Oct. 28, 1902, in Madison County, Iowa, and entered into rest March 30, 1985, at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, Iowa, at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 2 days.

He was united in marriage Dec. 22, 1927 with Frances Chappell. Four children were born to bless this home, Darrell, Darwin, Phyllis and Sharon.

When Gail was a small boy his family moved to Adams County where he lived most of his life. He was employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad for 48 years. He was a member of Company “K”, 168 Infantry and Instruction Lodge 275, A.F. & A.M. for many years. Gail enjoyed his garden and was a dedicated fisherman in his retirement years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Lena Ogburn; two brothers, Wayne and Byron; and a sister Etha Roberts. Survivors are his wife, Frances of Corning; four children, Darrell and wife Eleanor and Phyllis Yearington and husband Charles, all of Corning; Darwin and wife Jean of Godfrey, Illinois, and Sharon Killmon and husband Dick of Afton; a sister Martha Law of Corning, Iowa; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Gauthier Funeral Home in Corning April 2 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Rummer officiating Masonic services were conducted by Instruction Lodge #275, A.F. & A.M. Interment was in Prairie Rose Cemetery, Corning, Iowa.

Casket bearers were Robert Law, John Jones, Max Downard, Clifford Brown, Richard Scott and John Riegel. Honorary bearers were Dow Keever, Gary Leusink, Harry Sickler and James Crawford, Music was provided by Dorothy Cook, organist, and Kathy Schafer, vocalist.
