On April 3, 1914 she was united in marriage to George Barnett in Des Moines. They settled on a farm west of Stuart for three years, then moved to a farm near Menlo where they became members of the Presbyterian Church.

In 1918 they moved to a farm in the Fairview neighborhood. Then in 1929 they moved to the farm where they have lived continuously until 1963. Then due to Mrs. Barnett’s failing health they moved to the town of Stuart where they were living at the time of her death.

Mrs. Barnett became a member of the Fairview Congregational Christian Church. She was always interested in the work of the Church. She taught a boys’ Sunday School Class and enjoyed their activities. She helped with the ladies aid and other activities of the community as long as her health permitted.

The past year her health had begun to fail, causing growing concern to her husband and those near her. She was taken to Valley View Village in Des Moines where she passed away on Tuesday, January 14, at 77 years, 2 months and 4 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Allie Duff and Ollie Mills.

She leaves to mourn her passing her devoted husband, George; one sister, Mrs. Jessie McCleary of Winterset; a nephew, Paul McCleary of Linden, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 16 from the Bufkin Funeral Home with Rev. George Thurman officiating. Robert Lawson was soloist with Robin Lawson, organist.
