Mrs. Edith L. Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Fitzgerald, was born in Taylor county, Iowa, August 20, 1881, died February 1, 1922; age 40 years, 5 months, 12 days.
She was united in marriage to Charles W. Jones, on January 4, 1905. Two children blessed their home, one a daughter who died in infancy, and a son Glendon, who survives to mourn her loss, her husband having preceded her in death last October. Of other near relatives, she leaves an aged mother, Mrs. Zilpha Fitzgerald of Truro, Iowa, four brothers, Charley, Edward and Fred of Truro, and John of Des Moines; four sisters, Bessie Flumer of Des Moines, Mamie Chase and Beadie Abbott of Omaha, Nebraska, and Verma Brooks of Springfield, Missouri; an aged grandmother and two aunts, besides a large circle of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jones, as a neighbor and friend was held in highest esteem by those who knew her. She united with the Christian church of Murray last October, having lived a Christian life since the tender age of 14.
Funeral services were held from the Murray Christian church, Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by the pastor, E. W. Bowers. The services were largely attended and recalled the tragic death of her husband, Charles Jones, who was killed by bandits, last October. Interment was made in the Murray cemetery.
Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral were: Clyde Brooks and wife, Springfield, Mo.; Mrs. Beadie Abbott and son, Omaha, Nebr.; John Fitzgerald and family and Geo. Fulmer and family, Des Moines; Mrs. Ella Savage and Mr. B. Savage, New Market, Iowa.
