Darlyne Tussey, Creston

Darlyne V. Tussey, 100, of Creston passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Creston Specialty Care, Creston, Iowa. Memorial Services will be 11 A.M., Tuesday, October 10 at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. Rev. Jodi Rushing, First United Methodist Church, officiating. Inurnment will be at Graceland Cemetery, Creston. There will be no public viewing. Family will receive friends from 10 A.M. - 11 A.M. Tuesday morning, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Gibson Memorial Library Building Fund, and/or the First United Methodist Church in Creston. Darlyne Vivian Tussey, the daughter of Henry Jacob and Martha Jane (Huffman) Balius, was born on August 26, 1917, in Creston, Iowa. Darlyne attended Country School in Union County and attended Creston High School during Eighth to Tenth Grade. The family moved from town to the farm, and Darlyne graduated from Shannon City High School in 1935. On December 22, 1935, Darlyne married Paul W. Tussey in the home of Darlyne's parents. Darlyne was a homemaker and farm wife most of her adult life. She worked along side her husband, helping with the many farm chores. She also worked as a cook in the Orient-Macksburg Schools a few years. Darlyne worked at Kelly's Flowers and the Creston Medical Clinic for several years.

Darlyne was a current member of the Creston First United Methodist Church. She belonged to several bridge clubs and she was member of the Women's Card Club that met weekly at the Lakeshore Golf and Country Club in Afton. Darlyne was a long-time former member of the Orient United Methodist Church; U.M.W.; and Farm Bureau. In retirement, Paul and Darlyne spent the winter months in Parker, Arizona.

Survivors include her son, Jim (Karen) Tussey, Orient, IA; her daughter, Janet (Lee) Crawford, Des Moines, IA; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
