Frank Abel Low, son of Sam and Clara Choate Low, was born March 17, 1877 on a farm in Madison County, near Winterset, Iowa and departed this life on June 29, 1970 in the Dexter Hospital at the ripe age of 93 years, 3 months and 12 days.

Frank, with his parents, moved to the Stuart community, in Adair County as a boy and here he grew to manhood.

He was united in marriage to Sophia Krause on January 1, 1903. To this union were born four children: Adrian of Stuart, Mrs. Lavanchia Giles of Dexter, Mrs. Richard Pennington of Corona Del Mar, California and Ersel, who passed away June 28, 1968.

Mr. Low spent his whole life in and around Stuart except for a few years in South Dakota and Minnesota, and four years when he was engaged in the trucking business in Dexter. Except for these years he was engaged in farming.

Mrs. Low passed away November 1, 1961 since which time Frank has lived alone, doing his own housework and maintaining his garden.

He is survived by his three children and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Coffman of Menlo and Mrs. Cora Mallatt of Liscomb, Iowa. There are also five grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, besides many more distant relatives.

Mr. Low has been a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows for sixty-three years and a member of the Stuart Christian Church for over 50 years.

Mr. Low was one of those rugged individuals who contributed much to the making of this country what it is today. He was an industrious worker, a good family man and he will be sorely missed in our community.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning July 2 from the Stuart Christian Church with Rev. Morris Bailey officiating. Mrs. Keith Chapler, organist, provided music for the service. Assisting with the flowers were Mrs. Elmer Blomquist and Mrs. Fred Morford. Pallbearers were Elmer Blomquist, Howard Christensen, Robert Griffin, Walter Hawley, Max Pieper and Garland Roberts. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows conducted a service at the graveside. Interment was in South Oak Grove Cemetery.
