Deaths

L. O. Sutton

Ensign—L. O. Sutton, 82, for 56 years a representative of Farmers Alliance Insurance Co. here, died in Trinity hospital, Dodge City.

Known as the “windmill king” of this region while he operated a hardware store here and installed windmills on farms, Mr. Sutton was a native of Winterset, Ia., but had lived in Gray county since 1884. He was the first mail carrier between Dodge City and the old Cave post office since abandoned.

Survivors include the widow, Evelyn; three sons, Glenn, Seattle, Arthur D, Van Nuys, Calif., and Everett, Dodge City; two daughters, Mrs. Nelline Boynton, Olympia, Wash., and Mrs. Beulah Gott, Portland, Ore.; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers A. J., Ensign, and R. H., Dodge City; one sister Mrs. Luella Smith, Ensign.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Methodist church here, Rev. Howard Benton officiating. Burial will be in the Cave community cemetery.
