Michael Lawrence Berch

Mike Berch, of Winterset passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21 at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with burial at Peru Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m.

Mike was born December 11, 1973 in Winterset to Roy Lincoln and Martha Mae (Peacock) Berch. He graduated from Winterset High School in the class of 1992 and was a long time resident of Winterset. He worked in the HVAC business and ran his own business for several years.

Mike was a fun loving friend, uncle, brother and son. When you would watch him play with his nieces and nephews, you could tell he was a kid at heart. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, making tacos with his nieces and nephews, and visiting with friends and family. Mike was very intelligent and was loaded with many random and useful facts.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lincoln and Martha Mae (Peacock) Berch. Surviving Mike are his brothers, Bill, Steve, Bob (Marilyn) and Ted; and his sisters, Dixie (Blake) Updike, Debbie (Mike) Trost, and Deanna Berch; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be directed St. Jude’s Children Hospital. McCalley-Collins Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
