Mrs. Nora Ellen Allen, 82, of 1038 Rosewood, died in a East Wenatchee nursing home Saturday morning, following an extended illness.

Born in Des Moines, Iowa, December 22, 1883, she spent her early life there.

On May 8, 1902, she married Frank Allen in Winterset, Iowa, and they moved to Craigmont, Idaho in 1903. They operated a mercantile store there and later traveled by wagon to southern Idaho where they homesteaded three farms. They also operated a real estate business and the newspaper in Rupert, Idaho.

Mr. and Mrs. Allen came to Washington in 1922, operating a mercantile business in several communities. Upon retirement in 1952 they moved to Wenatchee.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church, WSGS and Chapter DZ of PEO.

Surviving are two sons; Donald M. Allen, Portland, and the Rev. James K. Allen, Boston, Mass.; two daughters, Mrs. Horace M. Campbell, Wenatchee, and Mrs. Kenneth Mangold, Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs Geneva Painter, Palo Alto, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband July 24, 1961, and three sons.

Services are announced by the Jones & Jones Funeral Home.
