Page 5FORMER PERU MAN DIES IN DES MOINES
Dr. G. J. Carver, a former resident of Peru, died June 21 at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines after an illness of 7 weeks. He was 75 years of age.
Funeral services were held last Saturday from the Dunn Funeral home, and also at Pella. Burial was made in the Pella cemetery.

Page 5, Column 4Funeral services for Garret Jacob Carver, son of Simon and Gertrude Korver, were held at the Dunn Funeral Home in Des Moines at 1 p.m., and at the Second Reformed Church in Pella at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, with burial following at Oakwood cemetery. Rev. Walter L. Briggs, pastor of the Grace Methodist Church of Des Moines officiated, assisted in Pella by the Rev. Richard Vanden Berg, pastor of the Second Reformed Church.
Garret J. Carver was born on February 12, 1869 near Oskaloosa, Iowa, and departed this life June 21, 1944 at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 9 days.
On June 19, 1901 he was united in marriage to Estella Carpenter of Fairfield. In the course of years, one daughter, Greta, was born to this marriage. Mr. Carver engaged in business in Pella and vicinity for a number of years before moving to Peru, Iowa, and later to Des Moines. For the past 22 years he has been employed by Tone Bros. in Des Moines.
As a young man he accepted Christ as his Savior and became a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church of Leighton. When he moved to Pella he transferred his membership to the Second Reformed Church here. After he left Pella, he became a member of the Grace Methodist Church of Des Moines. He was zealous in Christian work throughout his life, and practiced the teachings of the Master in his daily life. He was a considerate and devoted husband and loving father.
Mourning his departure are his wife and daughter of Des Moines, three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Vanden Berg of Otley, Mrs. Zena Vos and Mrs. Woutsey Vos of Pella and numerous relatives and friends.
