Patterson—(Special)—A lingering illness----------- Jesse E. Salsbury at his home September 17, at the age of 74 years.
He was born in Adams county, Ohio, the son of Willis Lee and Sarah Newman Salsbury. He was married at Woodland, Illinois, on June 12, 1887, to Rhoda Cook. She died just three months ago.
Mr. Salsbury came to Iowa with his parents. In 1905 he brought his family to Patterson where he has since made his home, with the exception of a year spent at Carlisle. He united with the Methodist church about 20 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Salsbury were the parents of six children. A daughter Adda, died in 1913, and Russell died in France with the American Expeditionary forces during the World War. The surviving children are Mrs. R. H. Shaklee and James, Herbert and Lee Salsbury, all of Patterson. He also leaves a brother, Lern Salsbury of St. Paul, Minnesota, a sister, Mrs. Alvina Aldrich of Oelwein, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held last Thursday from the church in Patterson in charge of the Rev. Elmer Patterson. Burial was made in the Montpelier cemetery.
