Page 6Lyle G. was born May 16, 1898 at Mazon, Illinois to Amos A. and Margaret Hannah (Shield) Carter and passed away September 13, 1985 at the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa. As a youth he moved with his family to their farm south of Dexter. After attending country school in Madison County, Iowa and high school in Dexter, Iowa, he helped his father on the family farm until his marriage.
On December 21, 1922 he was united in marriage to Daisy Elizabeth Siegenthaler and four children were born to this union. On December 21, 1984 they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Lyle was a farmer at heart. He loved the soil and enjoyed working with his livestock. His love and fondness for his pet dogs was known by everyone. He retired from farming in 1978 and moved to their new home in Stuart, Iowa.
He was a quiet, timid man but will be loved, missed greatly and long remembered by his wife Daisy, their children, Floyd and wife Goldie of Dexter, Iowa, Lloyd and wife Margie of Urbandale, Iowa, Marjorie Partlow and husband Duane of Menlo, Iowa and Mildred Stinman of Fort Dodge, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
His parents, a brother, one grandson and one great grandson preceded him in death.
Rev. D. Duane Dodson officiated at the funeral service on September 16, 1985 at the Link Funeral Home in Stuart, Iowa. Music was provided by Merrill Womach and National Music Service. Casket bearers were Steve Comer, Larry Carter, Ronald Betts, Gene McKibbin, Richard Partlow and Roger Partlow. Interment was in Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, Iowa.
