Thursday, January 15, 1953Ina Lovisa Lyddon Hochstetler, second daughter of William and Olive Page Lyddon, was born Feb. 18, 1882 and passed away at her home in Maryville, Mo. on Jan. 3, 1953 at the age of 71 years, 10 months and three days.
After spending most of her childhood around Lenox, Iowa she moved with her parents to a farm near Dexter, Iowa.
On Dec. 24, 1903 she was united in marriage to Everett Ells Hochstetler. To this union three children were born, two sons and a daughter, Helen Louise, who preceded her in death in infancy.
Besides her own children she cared for William and Raymond Hayes, her older sister’s children when just a girl. And after the death of her own daughter she took her brother’s daughter, Lulu Elaine, to raise from infancy.
While living in this community she was a member of the Presbyterian church and had worked with the young people and was a member of the Missionary Society.
Being unable to attend church due to her accident which occurred eight years ago, causing her to be a semi-invalid, she never failed to listen to the morning worship on the radio and read her Bible daily. She always lived by the Ten Commandments.
She is survived by her husband, Everett, two sons, Cecil Earl, of Maryville, Mo., and Clifford Leroy of Stuart, Iowa, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Elaine Landers of Council Bluffs, Iowa, eight grandchildren and one great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Ed Cady, Ainsworth, Iowa, and a half sister, Mrs. Roy Carter, Dexter, Iowa; four brothers, Orville, Menlo, Iowa, Arthur, Adair, Iowa, Walter, Stuart, Iowa, and John Lyddon Dexter, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Jan. 6, and the Dexter Presbyterian church under the direction of Rev. Charles Eble. Interment was in the Dexter cemetery.
Mrs. John Shepherd was organist. Kenneth Neal, Mrs. Shepherd, Mervin Wells and Willis Neal presented music, accompanied by Mrs. Eble. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Louis Pohle, Mrs. Joy Hammond, Mrs. James Adkins and Arta Lenocker.
Casketbearers were Wayne Lyddon, Carmon Lyddon, Norman Lyddon, Wilbur Carter, Carl Carter and James Vielgen.
