Judith "Judy" A (Wilcox) McMains
June 27, 1946 ~ July 22, 2017 (age 71)

A memorial service for Judy will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, July 27, at the funeral home. Memorials to Judy’s family can be left at the funeral home. If mailing, please add, “Attn: McMains Family” to the envelope.

Judy, the daughter of Elmer and Audrey (Miller) Wilcox, was born June 27, 1946, in Newton, Iowa. She graduated from Winterset High School. Judy was united in marriage with Bud Hansen on July 3, 1964, and they had two children, Tammy and Dennis. She later married Ronnie McMains on September 27, 2008, and gained 3 step-children: Ronnie, Ronda, and Robbie. Judy had worked for Look Magazine, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Iowa, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Dakota, retiring in 2008. She also did monthly bookwork for Tires Standard Service in Winterset. Judy enjoyed bowling, fishing, horses, water skiing, going to casinos, spending time with her family and friends, and listening to Elvis. She served in several officer positions for TOPS and had been a secretary and treasurer for many bowling leagues. She began Adult League bowling in 1970, and bowled for 44 years. She went to her first Iowa State Bowling Tournament in 1976 with her mother’s team from Winterset, and did not miss a state tournament in 38 years.

Those left to honor Judy’s memory include her daughter, Tammy Smith of Newton; son, Dennis (Kathy) Hansen of Kellogg; step-children, Ronnie McMains, Ronda McMains, and Robbie McMains; 10 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Linda (Lloyd) Cunnigham and Margie Wilcox; brother, Jim Tyer; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie; brothers, Larry Tyer and Glenn Vernon “Lucky” Wilcox; step-sister, Nancy Lusk; and step-brother, Scott Revell.
