Page 2, Column 1/2Mrs. Elizabeth Knowlton died at her residence in this city, Friday evening, June 9, in the 63rd year of her age. Mrs. Knowlton was the daughter of Rev. Leonard Parker, formerly so well known here.
She was born in Holmes county, Ohio, and in 1853 was married to Israel D. Guiberson. They at once came west and settled in Winterset. In January 1858, Mr. Guiberson died. In 1862 she married W. M. Knowlton, who died in 1870.
Mrs. Knowlton was always one of the most active women of Winterset in every good work, a woman of the most estimable qualities, a natural leader in society, and one who will be missed from the community, but most sadly from the circle of her own family and immediate friends.
The funeral services were held at the family residence on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. James Stickel, temporary supply in the pastorate of the First Presbyterian church, to which Mrs. Knowlton and her family adhered.
