Phoebe Anna Miller was born April 5, 1876 at Penn Center, Madison county, Iowa and died at Stuart, Iowa, December 7, 1917 at the age of forty-one years eight months and two days.

She was married December 1, 1897 at Stuart to George S. Laughlin and went at once to Arapahoe, Oklahoma where they lived for four years, returning then to Iowa to live.

Three daughters were born to them, Gladys Viola, Helen Marie and Mary Eva, all who with the husband and father are left in the home.

Mrs. Laughlin had a stroke of paralysis several months ago and has been in feeble health since that time, but was bout the house till two weeks before her death became worse and passed away Friday night.

Mrs. Laughlin was a member of the Methodist church uniting under the pastorate of Rev. Roberts. She was also a Daughter of Rebekah, the sisters of whom visited her during her illness. She was a quiet, home-loving woman whose family was her first care.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. G. T. Roberts of Harlan. Dr. Gray, O. W. Baker, Mrs. Woof, and Miss Nellie Hinkson, accompanied by Mrs. R. H. Dosh sang “Lead Kindly Light,” “Siloam” and “I’m Nearer Home.”

The burial as in South Oak Grove Cemetery, the pall bearers being Messrs. M. Davidson, E. Reise, Roscoe Whitaker, Scott Peers, Archie Lee and Clyde Pote.

Among the friends and relatives in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Cook, Sam Miller, Winterset, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Copeland and daughter Mary, Mrs. Cecil Copeland, Harry Cook, John Miller, wife and daughter Bonnie, Valley Junction, Sam Laughlin and wife and Roy Laughlin wife and son, Menlo.
