Loren Glenn Parker was born March 25, 1935 in Winterset, Iowa. He was born and raised in Winterset, graduating from Winterset High School in 1954. Loren attended Iowa State Teacher’s College (now UNI) where he met and eventually married his beautiful bride, Marjean Sheckler on March 28, 1959. Loren was also a star athlete, playing football and track. Their love of sports carried on to future generations of Parkers. Loren served two years in the Army before he and Marjean returned to Winterset, where they both taught school for over three decades and raised 2 sons, Jim and Jerry.

Loren taught earth science at Winterset High School, and was the head wrestling coach for a number of years. He was remembered as a favorite teacher to many- always kind and patient with a wry sense of humor. He loved technology and figuring out how things worked, and enjoyed crafting things out of walnut, his favorite wood. Loren loved spending time with his family and friends, particularly if it involved being outdoors (especially family fishing trips to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan).

He was preceded in death by his wonderful parents, Glenn and Mabel Parker, and his devoted wife, Marjean who passed in 2002.
He is survived by his dedicated wife, Anne (Panama City Beach, FL) who was with him at the time of his death in Florida. He is also survived by his sons and their wives, Jim and Ellen of Lakeville, MN, and Jerry and Jenny of Eagan, MN, and his brother, Larry (Joyce) Parker of Crossville, TN.

He was a beloved grandfather to Glenn (Brenna), Johnathan and Katie Parker as well as Luke Parker and Maddie (Travis) Hunt. He had one great grand-daughter, Ashelynn Parker.
