JIM ANDERSON, Martensdale, Ia

January 2, 1940 - June 16, 2017

Jim Anderson, 77, of Martensdale, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, June 16, 2017.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 19, at the St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement Church in Cumming, where a Vigil Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 20, at the church, with burial to follow in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement Building Fund and online condolences may be left at ochiltree.com.

James Robert Anderson, son of Andrew “Jack” and Rosa (Mason) Anderson, was born January 2, 1940, in Dewey Oklahoma. He graduated from Dewey High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Rose Skalnik on January 8, 1972, at the Wayside Chapel in Alsip, Illinois.

Jim was in sales most of his working career, owning and operating American Salon Circulation. He was a member of the St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement Church. He was also a member of The Antler Society. Jim loved the outdoors and nature; he was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who cherished the time spent with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Rose Anderson of Martensdale; four children, Cathy (Barry) Mogler of Houston, Texas, James Anderson of Houston, Texas, J.R. (Sherry) Anderson of Des Moines, and Jennifer (Jared) Paullin of Des Moines; a brother, Gerald Anderson of Afton, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Chadd (Christine) Smith, Jacob Anderson and Jade Anderson; step-grandchildren, Hans Nissen, Skyler Nissen, Hannah Mogler, and Morgan Mogler; one step-great-granddaughter, Bostyn; extended family and a host of friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Andrew “Jack” Anderson Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Anderson.
