Former Resident Dies

Mrs. Ned (Bessie Simmons) Garmer, 83, of Glenwood, Iowa, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Sunday, February 18, 1979, after a long illness.

She was born September 9, 1895, in Peru, Iowa, the daughter of Joshua and Beatrice Mease Simmons. She was preceded in death by her husband Ned, her parents, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one sister, Ola Porter of Winterset and many relatives and friends.

Graveside services were at the Glendale Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa, Thursday, February 22nd, 1979.

Graveside services for Bessie G. Garmer, 83, of Glenwood, a former Des Moines resident who died of a heart ailment Sunday at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Masonic Cemetery.

Mrs. Garmer, a Winterset native, lived in Des Moines 40 years before moving to Glenwood. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a stepson, Ward B. Garmer of Des Moines; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Dorothy Hadley of Bronxville, N.Y.’; and a sister Ola Porter of Winterset.

Friends may call at Dunn’s Funeral Home on Grand Avenue.
