Rebecca A. Beasley, 77, of Guthrie Center formerly of Earlham passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at The New Homestead in Guthrie Center. Graveside funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. on Friday, June 2nd at the Earlham Cemetery in Earlham. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Rebecca Beasley Memorial Fund and sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 119, Earlham, IA 50072.

Rebecca was born on January 22, 1940 to Fred and Naomi (Dillon) Pugh in Itawamba County, Mississippi. She grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee where she attended school and graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1958. Following graduation she began working at Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator.

In 1969 she was united in marriage to John F Clemens III. Two children were born to this union, Jill and John Clemens IV. In 1980 she retired from the phone company.

She was united in marriage to Frank M. Beasley in Hampton, Iowa. The couple made their home on the farm outside of Earlham. Rebecca began her role as the Earlham Meals on Wheels Site Director in the 1980’s. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, gardening, camping and traveling out west. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank and sister, JoLene Haynes.

She leaves behind her children, Jill (Clemens) Beeler and husband David of Menlo and John F. Clemens of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Michael D. Beeler of Stuart and Marissa A. Beeler of Adair; great-granddaughter, Haidyn Buckner of Adair; siblings: Frank Pugh of Ashboro, NC, Janice Craft of Oak Ridge, TN, Michael Pugh of Decatur, GA and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
