JAMES MCDONALD FORMER RESIDENT, DIES AT CRESTON

Funeral Services and Burial Held in Winterset Last Friday

James McDonald, a native of Madison county, died on Wednesday of last week in Creston, where he had been in business for a number of years.

He was the son of Robert and Leah McDonald, and was born near Winterset on April 14, 1874. On Dec. 25, 1893, he was married to Miss Carrie Cocklin, who died the same year. Later he married Miss Belle Irene Webster. They made their home in Douglas township, and were the parents of three children, two of whom died in infancy.

A few years later they moved to Creston, where he engaged in the hardware business. Creston was his home for the remainder of his life, except for a few years in Missouri. His third marriage occurred a few years ago to Laura Gossnell.

As a young man he had united with the Baptist church, later transferring to the Presbyterian church, with which he was affiliated at the time of his death. He was a thirty-third degree Mason, having been a member of that order for about 35 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Zoe McDonald of St. Louis, Mo., a sister, Mrs. Fred Kuntz of Winterset, and a brother, Joe McDonald of Mt. Vernon, S. Dak.

Masonic rites were held last Friday at Creston, and funeral services that afternoon in Winterset from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Mr. Kessler. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
