William Newton Goodson was born May 11, 1836, in Washington county, Indiana, and died at his home near Van Meter, Iowa, March 19, 1910, age 73 years, 10 months, 8 days. He came with his parents to Iowa in 1847, locating three miles east of Booneville, Dallas county, where he resided on a farm until 1860. The last fifty years were spent in the residence where he died.

The deceased leaves a wife, two sons, eight grandchildren, two brothers, one sister and a host of friends to mourn his departure.

He was a kind hearted husband and father and a good neighbor.

Funeral services were held at the home on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Stiverson was assisted by Rev. Robert Trindle. The music was furnished by the Chapel choir and male quartet. The Masonic order had charge at the grave.
