Van Bruce Brownlee, son of Bruce Brownlee and Mary Margaret (Warner) Brownlee was born September 24, 1958 in Clarinda, Iowa and passed from this life, suddenly, Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his home near St. Charles, Iowa at 58 years of age.
Van grew up in the St. Charles area. He graduated from I-35 High School and Iowa State University. He returned to St. Charles and began farming. Van was united in marriage to Lisa Hatcher on December 29, 1990 at New Virginia, IA and two children blessed this union, Tess and Brody.
Van was an outdoors, hardworking man. He enjoyed farming, making wood projects and Pork Producers events. Family was the center of his life, he enjoyed listening to kids’ stories, watching kids play sports and traveling with Lisa. He was a member of the Pork Producers, I-35 School Board, and member of the St. Charles Parish Church.
Van was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Margaret Brownlee.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Lisa Brownlee of St. Charles, daughter, Tess (Dillan Dwyer) Brownlee of Bettendorf, son, Brody Brownlee of St. Charles, father, Bruce (Elinor) Brownlee of West Des Moines, sister, Sue Brownlee of Austin, TX, sister, Karen (Alan) Gast of Kansas, brother, Don (Cheryl) Brownlee of Truro, brother, Mark (Julie) Brownlee of New Virginia, sister, Janis (Russ) Hochstetler of Winterset, sister, Sara (Dale) Oldenkamp of Slater, many nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and many friends.
