Sally Ann Emery was born in Clearmont County, Ohio, Sept. 29th,1827, and died at her home in Madison County, Iowa, March 16th, 1900, aged 72 years, 5 months and 15 days.
On January 3rd, 1849, she was married to Samuel A. Ross with whom she shared the joys and sorrows of life for more than 51 years. They moved to Madison County, Iowa in 1857. To them were born four children, two of whom, with their aged father, are left to mourn the departure of a loving mother and companion. Mother Ross was a devoted wife and mother; a kind, sympathizing friend and neighbor.
The funeral services were held at Union chapel, march 18th. The scripture lesson was the ninety-first Psalm, and the text Isaiah 38 the latter part of the first verse, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near by. A large concourse of friends and neighbors flowed, thus showing how very highly she was esteemed by all.
