A. M. Armstrong Dies

A. M. Armstrong, an old resident of Stuart, who had been quite sick for a number of weeks, died at his home here Monday night.

Funeral services were held from the M. E. church yesterday afternoon. An obituary will be printed next week.

Obituary of A. M. Armstrong

Alexander Miller Armstrong was born in Dark county, Ohio, January 23, 1845, and died January 19, 1926, at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 25 days.

He came to Iowa and settled at Stuart in 1880. He was married twice and leaves two daughters, Mrs. H. C. Tanner, Landers, Wyoming, and Mrs. Frank Morgan, of Stuart by the first marriage, and a widow and six children by the second. The children are Mrs. C. L. McCollum, Orange, Calif., Mrs. Walter Chase, Winterset, Harry B., Iola and Belle Armstrong of Des Moines and Henry of Ft. Dodge. He also leaves one brother, John Armstrong, of Winterset, and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Knutz, of Dayton, Ohio.

The greater part of his life he was in the implement business. A part of the time was spent in Stuart and Menlo. For a number of years he was with the International Harvester Co. of Chicago, Illinois. For the past 12 years he has been engaged in the coal business here in Stuart. Shortly before his death he sold his coal business to his son-in-law, Mr. Frank Morgan.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church last Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. Harvey.

Coordinator's note: The deceased first came to Madison County in the early 1870s before moving on to Stuart. He appears in the 1880 Penn Township census.
