January 5, 1930 - May 7, 2017Dorothy Cashatt, 87, of Winterset, died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 11, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, with family present to receive friends during this time.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 12, at Ochiltree’s, with burial to follow in the McGinnis Cemetery, Madison County.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Dorothy Mae Breman, daughter of Earl and Millie (Campfield) Breman, was born January 5, 1930, in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from East High School in 1948 and later attended the Iowa School of Beauty. She was united in marriage to Charles Cashatt on May 1, 1949, at the Easton Place Methodist Church in Des Moines and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1991. She later married Paul McMaster on November 30, 1992, in Arkansas. The two had known each other for many years and were in youth groups together at the Easton Place Methodist Church.
During most of her working career, she managed and oversaw the computer systems at Iowa Methodist Hospital from 1965 until her retirement in 1980. Later she obtained her realtor’s license and worked for Iowa Reality.
Dorothy was a Campfire Girl leader and was a wedding coordinator at her church. She liked to shop and enjoyed making ceramics. She also enjoyed baking, especially at Christmas time.Dorothy is survived by her children, Robert (Kathy) Cashatt of Phoenix, AZ, Jill (Bryan) Mescher of Winterset, and Julie (Kevin) Carpenter of Adel; a sister, Sarah (Jack) Bauman of Council Bluffs; sister-in-law, Bobbie Breman of West Des Moines; seven grandchildren, Aaron Cashatt, Josh Cashatt, Andrew Cashatt, Joel Cashatt, Jennifer (Jason) Drake, Zach (Josette) Mesher, and Tyler (Kassidy) Carpenter; five great-grandchildren, Natalie Drake, Callie Drake, Bodey Drake, Alina Mescher, and Ethan Mescher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and two brothers, Bill and Lavern Breman.
