They were active members of the Dodge Center Methodist Church and the Lorimor and Dodge communities. Lyle and Carol moved to Creston in 1981. They opened their home to many students and interns who were studying in Creston. After Lyle's death Carol was a housemother at Theta Xi Fraternity in Manhattan, Kansas at Kansas State University for 5 years and at Delta Tau Delta at Iowa State University for one year. In the following years she enjoyed many travels, adventures, and time with family.
