October 6, 1938 - May 3, 2017

Glen Wiedman, 78, of Winterset, died Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at West Bridge Care and Rehab in Winterset.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 6, at Ochiltree’s. Burial will follow in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

Glen Francis Wiedman, the son of John and Mildred (Bindel) Wiedman, was born October 6, 1938, in Madison County, Iowa. He graduated from De Soto High School in 1955. Glen met Shirley Hermon as a teenager working for Shirley’s father. The couple was united in marriage on October 7, 1961, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset.

Early in his working career, Glen worked for the ASC and he later did concrete work and farmed. Glen enjoyed working on his tractor and with his Black Angus cattle. He then worked for the City of Winterset for 17 years before retiring in 2000. Glen loved the outdoors especially coon hunting, deer hunting and fishing. In his free time he enjoyed playing cards, cribbage and ten point pitch being his favorites. Above all else, Glen cherished the time spent with his family and friends.

Glen is survived by his wife, Shirley of Winterset; three children, Glenda (Dan Poll) Smith of Augusta, MI, Susan (Charlie) Dooley of Winterset, and Chad Wiedman of Albuquerque, NM; siblings, Helen Wiedman, John (Nancy) Wiedman, Judy Van Horn, Joann (Dick) Barker, Beverly Maxwell, and Kathy (Randy) Jones; eight grandchildren, Bryon (Sara) Smith, Megan (Will) Smith, Dan Dooley, Ben (Nicole) Dooley, Jeff Dooley, Sara Dooley, Breanna Wiedman, Autumn Wiedman; six great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Rose Rinkert, Dorothy Bear, and Edith Jacobs.
