Funeral services for O. G. Brooker were held at the Slininger Chapel here at 2 p.m. Saturday, with Rev. Ellsworth L. Woods, pastor of the Central Christian Church, officiating.
Wilber Harten, accompanied by Mrs. Shirley Winey, sang, “In The Garden” and “Good Night and Good Morning.”
Pallbearers were Charles Arbuckle, Joe Johnson, Frank Bortz, Glen Kinsman, D. W. Wolf and Kenneth Monthei. Interment was in Jefferson Cemetery.
Orvand George Brooker, son of George and Elizabeth Brooker, was born at DeSoto, Iowa on November 4, 1873 and departed this life on January 20, 1953, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy Seigler at the age of 79 years, two months and 16 days.
While living with his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Delp of Grand Junction, he went to visit his daughter, Mrs. Roy Seigler of Mission, Texas for his health and after one and a half years was called by his Saviour to his home, to a sweet and peaceful rest.
Early in life he gave his heart to the Lord and had been a faithful and loving father and a true Christian. On March 24, 1897 he was united in marriage to Minnie Estella Yount at the home of her uncle at Spring Hill, Iowa.
To this union were born ten children: Mrs. Roy Siegler of Mission, Texas; Floyd Brooker of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Bernice Razy of Las Vegas, Nev.; Loren Brooker of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Merle Delp of Grand Junction; Glenn Brooker of Los Angeles; Maurice Brooker of Las Vegas, Nevada; Donald Brooker of Chicago; Mrs. Doris Scott of Las Vegas, Nevada; Mrs. Clarabelle Phillips of Las Vegas, Nevada; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren are also left to mourn his departure. He also leaves an only brother of Pomona, Calif.
His parents and wife preceded him in death.
