Elizabeth Nancy Reeves, daughter of Samuel and Nancy Jane Reeves, was born at Agency, Iowa, January 27, 1867 and died at her home in Laurens, Iowa, June 11, 1936; age 69 years, 4 months, and 14 days. Early in life she confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized in the Baptist Church.

She was married to George Bishop December 1, 1882, at Winterset, Iowa. They made their home in Madison County, Iowa until the spring of 1905 when they moved to a farm near Webb, Iowa. They have continued their home in the vicinity of Webb, Mallard and Laurens since that time and for the past few years in Laurens. They celebrated their Golden Wedding four years ago. Fifty years of golden memories.

To them were born 13 children; 8 boys and 5 girls, all of whom are now living. They are Mrs. Luella Bishop, Calhoun, Mo.; Mrs. Nellie Williams, Peru, Iowa; Mrs. Edna Vanderhyde, Dodge Center, Minn.; Mrs. Ellen Dahlman, Storm Lake, Iowa; Clarence Bishop, West Concord, Minn.; William Bishop, Havelock, Iowa; Elmer Bishop, Rolfe, Iowa; James and Walter Bishop of Curlew, Iowa; Earnest, John, Fred, and Mrs. Lucille Triggs of Laurens.

Two of her sons, William and Fred were in the World War. There are also 42 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends, who, together with the husband mourn her departure. But they are comforted with the memory of the life of a kind and devoted wife, mother, friend; patient in all her labors in the home and community, and never complaining in her days of suffering.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Church Sunday afternoon conducted by the Pastor, Wm. H. Knotts, assisted by Rev. Chas. H. Seward of the Methodist Church. Burial was in the Laurens cemetery.

Those from out of town who were here to attend the funeral were all the children except the oldest daughter, Mrs. Luella Bishop of Calhoun, Mo., who was unable to attend, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Faux and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Bishop of Rolfe; Mr. and Mrs. John Smith of Indianola; James and George Utsler, and Lela Selvester of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Reeves and family of Emmetsburg.
