On January 24, 2017, Jerry Gene Standing passed away in Apple Valley, California and went to be with his family who had gone before him.
He was born and raised in Earlham, Iowa, where his father taught him his love for flying. Jerry served in the Army after high school.
He left Iowa and ventured to New Mexico in 1978 where he continued to work as a plumber owning his own business until retirement.
For relaxation and enjoyment through the years, he worked on his homebuilt airplane, a Pietenpol Aircamper, and restored classic cars. When his kids were home, he enjoyed camping and taking them skiing at the lakes. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) where he met many of his life long friends.
He is survived by daughters Lisa Standing Nelson and her husband Josh of Carlsbad, CA; Andrea Standing Sillivent and her husband Steve of Las Lunas, NM; grandchildren and great grandchildren – Jack Standing and his fiancée Mari Silva of Veguita, NM; Colt Nelson of Carlsbad, CA; Cody Moulder and wife Lauren of Farmington, NM; Dustin Moulder of Los Lunas, NM; Dylan Sillivent and wife Karina of Honolulu, HI; Kristen Sillivent and boyfriend Vince Munoz of Los Lunas, NM; Julian Padilla, Deegan Moulder, Jessalyn Sillivent, and Karley Sillivent; his sister Sally Russell of Earlham, IA; his nephew and niece Mike and Cheryl Russell of Earlham, IA; and his closest buddy, his dog, Shania “Shi”.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Standing, his parents, Gordon and Marie Standing, his wife Glenda Standing and brother-in-law Wilbur Russell.
