Almira Frazee Blake was born in Decatur, Macon county, Ill., May 8, 1852 and passed away February 3, 1940 at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 25 days.
She came to Iowa when a girl and lived in Madison county, Iowa until January 16, 1879 when she was united in marriage to Richard Blake, then moved to Audubon county when this country was quite open and remained there until 1909 when they moved to Guthrie Center where she remained to the present time.
Mr. Blake passed on January 21, 1922. There were five children born to this union, J. R. Blake, Anna Jane Wilson, May Alice Parsons, and J. W. Blake, all of Guthrie Center, Orpha Blake who died in infancy. There are 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends that mourn her going.
When a girl she joined church and lived a Christian life ever since; she did her level best to rear her family in that manner and constantly praying for them day and night to the end.
Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 in charge of Rev. Rex. Rev. Biddle sang “In the Garden” and “Shadows.” Interment was made in Bowman Chapel cemetery.
