Former Winterset Resident Died August 11 At Age Of 70 Years
Ray Poindexter, a native of Madison county and a resident of Winterset for many years, died August 11 at Denver, Colorado, where he had lived in recent years. He was 70 years of age.
Mr. Poindexter was born in Madison county December 31, 1895, a son of Charles A. and Bessie Dean Poindexter. He was married to Marie Trester, who survives him.
He was member of the American Legion at Denver, and also of the I. O. O. F. lodge there.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Gale Paul Poindexter of Buena Park, California and Curtis and Dean Poindexter of Denver, two brothers, Neil H. Poindexter of Des Moines and Chester A. Poindexter of Spokane, Washington, a sister, Mrs. Flossie Boyce of Winterset, and eight grandchildren.
Funeral and burial services were held at Denver with the color guard and firing squad from Lowery Air Force base, and the Odd Fellows lodge participating.
