John Wayne Kirsch, son of John and Beulah (White) Kirsch, was born January 3, 1939 on the farm near Peru, Iowa. He was united in marriage with Lorrene Lande on August 21, 1963 in Osceola, Iowa. Lorrene died in 1991.
John farmed for most of his working career. He was a collector of many things and he loved to dance. Many folks will recall having seen him and his longtime friend and dance partner, Wanda Findley dancing at the Iowa and Missouri State Fairs. In his trade-mark red and white or black and gold overalls, John would hit the dance floor putting to shame many half his age. John said of his dancing that all of the stresses of life just went away when he was on the dance floor.
John is survived by three children, Bill Butcher of Des Moines; Terrie (Brian) Severin of Urbandale; John Kirsch of Mercer, MO; eight grandchildren, Heather (Andrew) Waltz, Tiffeny (Josh) Carpenter, Joe (Kayla) Waltz, Amanda (Bryan) Schlotterback, Shane and Jesse Butcher and Zach Breanna Severin; nine great grandchildren, Haley Schlotterback, Emma, Alivia and Abigail Lincoln, Nevaeh and Hank Carpenter, Melody Lola and Lillian Waltz and Chloe Clark; sister, Connie (Darryl) Couts of Excelsior Springs, MO; nieces and nephew, Johnette (Brooks) Dent of Clayton, N.C., Angela Snyder of Norfolk, NE, Shanon Snyder of Winterset and Derrick (Krista) Couts of Istanbul, Turkey and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Lola Waltz; sister, Bonnie Snyder; nephew, Darren Couts; and special friend and dance partner, Wanda Findley.
The family would like to express their most sincere appreciation for the loving care provided to John during his final days at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, HCI Hospice Care Services and Westbridge Care and Rehab in Winterset.
