DEXTER: Mrs. Art Mount passed away at the Madison Manor nursing home in Winterset, Thursday, having been a resident there for 12 days. She had been in ill health for a long time and had had the faithful care of her sister, Mrs. Bertha Williams.

She was born, raised and educated in the College Corner vicinity. Her home place is now owned and lived on by Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Wells.

She and Mr. Mount farmed at the Roy Zuck farm for a short while before becoming residents of Dexter. He was street commissioner until his death in 1953. They had four children. At the time of her death, she was 75 years old.

Services were conducted for Mrs. Mount at the Dexter Methodist church with Rev. John Latta in charge, and burial by Evans Funeral home was at Dexter cemetery, February 28, 1965.

Robert Lawson presided at the organ and Bernadine Beane and Helen Evans handled the floral arrangements. Casket bearers were Russell Horn, Carroll Stiles, Dick McMenamin, Louis Webb, Paul Calusen and John Baldwin.

Effie Fern, youngest daughter of William R. and Elizabeth Jamison Fairholm, was born on a farm in Guthrie County on September 14, 1889.

Her early education began in the rural school near their home.

She was united in marriage to Arthur C. Mount on March 30, 1909, at Indianola, Iowa. To this union were born four children: Dale F. of LeSueur, Minn., Betty Putney and Dorothy Mount of Des Moines and Maxine Mount of Winterset.

Mrs. Mount passed away Thursday evening at the Madison Manor Nursing Home in Winterset where she had resided since February 14 of this year. Her death was due to a ruptured aorta.

She was preceded in death by her husband on December 26, 1953, also her parents, one brother and three sisters. Her survivors are her four children, six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Williams of Dexter.

Memorial services were held in Dexter Methodist church of which she was a member. Burial was made in the Dexter cemetery.
