March 29, 1946 - March 8, 2017

Nancy A. Farlow, 70, of Winterset, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Kavanagh House at 56th in Des Moines.

A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, where a Prayer Service will begin at 5:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the Winterset Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Nancy Ann Allan, daughter of Perry and Elyse (Stevinson) Allan, was born March 29, 1946, in Turlock, California. She graduated high school in 1964 and earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Nevada in Reno. Her marriage to Carroll Farlow took place on December 5, 1978, in South Lake Tahoe, California.

During her career as a social worker Nancy was very proud of her work with troubled youth. She has managed several positions as a social worker in Nevada, Louisiana, Missouri and California, working with families in crisis, providing counseling, intervention and after care services. She was a member of St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville, NV where she continued her outreach working with youth. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset.

Nancy also enjoyed genealogy, reading, attending book groups and traveling.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Carroll Farlow of Winterset; daughter, Heather (Mike) Brew of Sturgis, MI; sister, Donna (Gary) Salazar of Sonora, CA; three grandchildren, Aaron (Kayla) Brew, Natalie Brew, and Shawn Brew; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews extended family and friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter and son-in-law, Cari Leigh (Dominic) Lombardo; a grandson, baby Lombardo; and a brother, Melvin Douglas Allan.
